Gordon H. Mueller, Everything We Have: D-Day 6.6.'44

Founding President and CEO of The National WWII Museum visits the PMML to discuss his new book, produced in association with the US National World War II Museum to commemorate the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

“Everything We Have,” its title employing a phrase used by General Dwight Eisenhower, presents the American experience surrounding June 6, 1944 in Normandy through the dramatic personal accounts of individuals who were involved in the epic battle. The 250-page work by Dr. Gordon H. “Nick” Mueller,” President & CEO Emeritus of The National WWII Museum, builds on the institution’s archival strengths and commemorates the invasion’s 75th anniversary.

The book features many rarely-seen oral histories, images and documents, the “best of the best” from the National WWII Museum’s D-Day collections. Major chapters explore the heroic efforts of American service members at Utah Beach, Omaha Beach and Pointe du Hoc, as well as those serving in Airborne and naval units. The book features 40 extensive personal accounts, more than 150 archival photos, dozens of artifacts and documents, and 11 new maps highlighting key aspects of the Allied invasion.

This compelling new treatment of D-Day, under development for more than 18 months, is published by London-based Carlton Books, with distribution in America through Sterling Publishing in New York.

GORDON H. MUELLER, PHD, former historian and Vice Chancellor at the University of New Orleans, served as Founding President and CEO of The National WWII Museum. During a distinguished career at the university, Mueller made his mark as a popular teacher, dean, and vice chancellor. He continues to lead overseas WWII tours and speaks widely on the war experience, the nature of the American Spirit, and nonprofit leadership.
