During the United War Work Campaign, the American Library Association collaborated with seven other welfare organizations including the Young Men’s Christian Association, the Young Women’s Christian Association, the Jewish Welfare Board, the War Camp Community Service, the Salvation Army, and the Knights of Columbus. Together these organizations raised over one million dollars (thirteen million dollars today).
