Dignity of Duty: The Journals of Erasmus Corwin Gilbreath 2015
Erasmus Corwin Gilbreath’s service began at age 21, when he joined the 20th Indiana Volunteer Infantry Regiment in 1861. His journey continued as a regular U.S. Army officer during the reconstruction of the southern states, took him to the frontiers of Texas and the Dakotas, and finally ended during the Occupation of Puerto Rico after the Spanish American War (1898).
