Ribbon Bars
Service ribbons are small ribbons mounted on metal bars which can attach to a uniform to signify the awards and decorations a service member has earned.
Ribbon bars are typically worn on the left-breast and are subject to specific orders of precedence determined by service branch. Sollie Kaplan’s ribbon bars indicate that he received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal (left) and the Army Good Conduct Medal (right).
