Pritzker Military Archives Center Press Kit
Welcome to the Pritzker Military Archives Center (PMAC) Press Room
Construction is completed for the PMAC. The building accommodates the ever-growing collections of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library (PMML). This state-of-the-art research center will greatly expand the ability to preserve and restore important historical materials; all of which tie our nation’s past and present to its future. This building will extend the PMML’s ability to educate and inform; and provide a place where both citizens and soldiers can learn about each other and their important roles in our democracy. It’s important to note that the PMAC is primarily a research center. The working area on the first floor and the storage area will not be accessible to the public. Researchers can access items in the collection by making a reference inquiry and setting an appointment for viewing. There is a research room where scholars can view and inspect artifacts and archival material.

The location is between two major cities and airports, making it very accessible for visitors and researchers. It is about an hour drive from the PMML in Chicago, which makes transporting items easier. The location is accessible to active military members and near the Great Lakes Naval base. It is also a good location for the presence of military members and veterans in and around the Kenosha region.
The Village of Somers has been very supportive of the PMAC project since the beginning. The project aligns with what they want to see for a gateway into their community.
The square footage is 51,800 square feet, 9,400 of which will be open to the public.
The museum collection consists of just over 40,000 items and over 65,000 book titles. The entire artifact and archival collection is housed and preserved at the PMAC.
