Sunscreen was first marketed in 1946. However, it wasn’t until the 1970s that the cream actually contained chemicals which shield the skin from UV rays.
Helene Curtis Industries, the makers of this cream, was founded in Chicago in 1927. The company makes health and beauty products to this day.
