Indian Wars Campaign Medal

The Indian Wars Campaign Medal was awarded for U.S. Army service during 10 distinct campaigns against Native American Tribes.

Erasmus Corwin Gilbreath qualified for this medal for his service during the “Bannock War” in 1877. The Bannock Tribe of the Northern Paiute’s traditional lands included areas in southwestern Montana near where Gilbreath was stationed in 1877.
