M1 Bayonet

1943

steel, plastic

The M1 replaced the larger M1905 bayonet beginning in 1943, and was utilized heavily in the European theater of WWII. This bayonet was manufactured by Oneida, Limited. The company manufactured the M1 in 1943, before switching production to make M1 carbine parts. This bayonet is typical of what American soldiers would have carried when they came ashore on D-Day.
