American Soldiers Prepare to Board Transports in Southern England

Infantry soldiers destined to come ashore at Omaha and Utah beach loaded onto troop transports for the journey across the channel in one of 931 ships that comprised the Western Naval Task Force. As dusk set on June 5th, these soldiers readied themselves for the coming assault as they made their way across the English Channel to France. 

With full packs, an American quartermaster battalion line an English pier waiting to board a transport for shipment to a new station.
