Model 1892 Krag bayonet

Sword-style bayonet has a 30 cm steel blade with a fuller. The guard includes a ring opening on one end that goes over the barrel when attached to a rifle. The handle is made of wood with two rivets holding it to the tang. Metal pommel has a spring-loaded press catch for locking onto the lug of a rifle.

    • This item is part of a collection of items that originally belonged to the Drendel brothers of Naperville, IL who served during World War I. At least one of the brothers served in the 4th Infantry Division. The items were originally donated to the 1st Division Museum at Cantigny.
    • The 1892 Krag bayonet was designed for use with the Krag-Jorgensen rifle, which was the service rifle for the U.S. Army during the late 19th century and early 20th century.
