77 mm artillery shell, decorated.

Shell is made of dented and discolored brass, with a slightly chipped top edge. The shell has been engraved with trees, including leaves and what appear to be flowers, with a bird sitting on a branch. Near the top of the shell is a decorative border.

    • Title by cataloger.
    • Bottom of shell has the inscriptions, "St", "G 225", "SEPT 1917", "67% Cu", and HL 25". The G may indicate that the shell was produced by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) Geislingen.
    • While the headstamp does not indicate caliber, during World War I the Germans primarily used 77 mm shells.
