August 14th, 1945 commemorates and marks the day that Japan unconditionally surrendered to the Allies, effectively ending World War II. Ever since, both August 14th and August 15th have been known as “Victory over Japan Day,” or simply “V-J Day.” In this FREE anniversary episode, Dr. Havers and General Hagee sit down to discuss how the war came to an end in the Pacific theatre, while focusing on the history and legacy of the end of WWII.

GENERAL HAGEE, USMC (Retired) currently serves as the President for the Museum of the Pacific War. His military career took him to innumerable foreign countries in combat and peace and his military assignments include Commanding General, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Deputy Director of Operations at the U.S. European Command, Director of Strategic Plans and Policies U.S. Pacific Command, and Executive Assistant to the Director of Central Intelligence. Hagee holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, a Masters Degree in International Relations and is a fellow at the University of Texas’ William P. Clements Jr. Center for History, Strategy & Statecraft.
