Military Service

8 years of service in the Marine Corps Reserves, dividing his time between infantry and intelligence.

Overview

William McNulty joined the Marines upon graduation from college and has never stopped serving. His courage and leadership are evident as he runs into the face of disaster, rather than away from it. Having built seven international disaster response teams/charities with headquarters in six countries, he is well-versed in disaster relief. He is currently the Head of Mission for White Stork, a critical aid charity founded in Ukraine following the 2022 Russian invasion. He sees a need, gets others on board, and responds.

In his own words, “Service is in my blood. It was important to my family; it was part of my education as a young adult and has been an important theme throughout my entire life.”

Prior to White Stork, William cofounded Team Rubicon and then founded Team Rubicon Global, the internationally acclaimed veteran-led disaster response organization. He has worked in support of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence, the Defense Intelligence Agency, and the National Security Council's Iraq Threat Finance Cell. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Communication Studies from the University of Kansas and an M.A. in Government from Johns Hopkins University.

In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, William serves on the Board of Directors of Disaster Relief Australia and White Stork. Previously William served as a director of Airlink Flight, RE:ACT UK Disaster Response, Team Rubicon Canada, Team Rubicon Norway, Team Rubicon USA, Team Rubicon Global, and the Truman National Security Project. He is a 2015 Presidential Leadership Scholar and lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations. His awards and honors include: 2018 Humanitarian Award from the New York Global Leaders Dialogue; 2017 Honorary PhD in Humane Letters from the University of Kansas; 2016 Presidential Delegation to the Invictus Games; 2015 Heinz Award for the Human Condition; 2012 Grinnell College Young Social Innovator of the Year; and the 2010 Johns Hopkins University Government Service Alumni Award.
