In this Program, we welcome Brigadier General Maria A. Juarez to give an overview of her history and service in the military, the mission of the 88th Readiness Division and culture in the U.S. Army Reserve. We will hear firsthand how she has seen the Army change through the course of her 20-plus years of service. Brigadier General Maria A. Juarez received her commission from the Reserve Officers Training Corps, University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus in 1992. For over 25 years, Brigadier General Juarez served in multiple staff positions at all echelons, including Office of the Chief of Army Reserve, Division, and Major Subordinate Command levels.
Her military awards and decorations include a Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Meritorious Service Medals, an Army Commendation Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (6th award), National Defense Service medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service medal with silver hourglass and M device, Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Overseas Service Ribbon (with numeral 4), NATO Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Public Health Service Unit Citation, Army Staff Identification Badge, Parachutist Badge, Parachute Rigger Badge, French Parachute Badge, and others.
Brigadier General Juarez’s has a Master degree in Strategic Studies and also Master degree in Information Systems from Central Michigan University. She is also a graduate of the Army War College, completed Joint Professional Military Education and the Army Force Management Course.
