Nuremberg: 75th Anniversary of the International Military Tribunal at Nuremberg
In partnership with the Center for National Security and Human Rights Law and its Consortium for the Research and Study of Holocaust and the Law, the Museum & Library will host a program on the military tribunal held after World War II. The program will feature discussions with John Geiringer, Dr. Mark Hull and Dr. Rob Havers about the tribunal from a historical and legal prospective with lessons for today.
UPDATE: As this event will qualify for Illinois MCLE credits, participation for this event will be available through direct registration through IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law. The program will not be streamed live on the Museum & Library's website or Facebook page. The recording will be available on the Museum & Library's platforms after the event has completed. Mark M. Hull, Ph.D., J.D., FRHistS
Professor Hull earned his B.A. from The Citadel, M.A. from Jacksonville State University, Ph.D. from the National University of Ireland/University College Cork, and J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law. He is a licensed attorney and member of the Alabama, San Francisco, and American Bar Associations. Dr. Hull is also an elected Fellow of Royal Historical Society. Commissioned as an armor officer in 1984 after graduation from The Citadel, Dr. Hull served on active duty in Germany with 3/63 Armor (3ID), then the United States Army Reserve, and voluntarily returned to active duty (as a Military Intelligence officer) in 2006 when assigned to a Military Transition Team (MiTT) in Iraq from 2006-7. He has written two books: Irish Secrets: German Espionage in Wartime Ireland (2003) and Masquerade: Treason, Holocaust, and an Irish Imposter (2017) in addition to many articles on history and aspects of international criminal law. A frequent speaker at national and international venues, Dr. Hull focuses on war crimes prosecution, international law, and the relationship between the law of war and military operations. He was selected at the 2015-16 DMH Instructor of the Year. He is currently working on a Doctorate of Law with Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen-Nürnberg.
John Geiringer
John serves as the Regulatory Section Leader of the Financial Institutions Group at Barack Ferrazzano law firm, where he concentrates his practice on regulatory, governance, and investigative matters involving financial institutions. He is a frequent speaker and author in the financial institutions area on issues surrounding banking regulations, examinations, and enforcement actions.
John teaches banking law and national security law at Chicago-Kent College of Law and is a Distinguished Lecturer for the Master of Arts in Financial Integrity (MAFI) Program at Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He is the editor and author of a chapter in the upcoming book, Countering the Financing of Terrorism: Law and Policy.
John is the Co-Director of the Chicago-Kent College of Law’s Center for National Security and Human Rights Law, and its Consortium for the Research and Study of Holocaust and the Law (CRSHL).
Rob Havers, MA FRSA FRHistS
Dr. Rob Havers is President & CEO of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library. He came to his post from his previous position as President of the George C. Marshall Foundation in Lexington, Virginia. to the structure of the Pritzker Military Museum & Library. Prior to his time at the Marshall Foundation Dr. Havers served as the Executive Director of the National Churchill Museum and Vice President for the Churchill Institute at Westminster College, located in Fulton, Missouri .He previously served as Fulbright-Robertson visiting professor of British History at Westminster College, as a professor of War Studies at Sandhurst, taught at the London School of Economics and Political Science and University of Cambridge. Dr. Havers graduated from Queen Mary College, University of London with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Politics; London School of Economics and Political Science with a Master’s degree in later modern British History, and Pembroke College of University of Cambridge with a Ph.D.
