An Allied C-47 Pulls a Glider across the English Channel

June 1944 Photograph

In addition to the paratroopers, thousands of infantry would land in Normandy in gliders, bringing with them jeeps and bulldozers to help clear the area for advancing troops.  These troops loaded into gliders in a manner similar to paratroopers and were then towed across the English Channel by C-47s planes.
