Sitting Room of the Gilbreath Family Home at Whipple Barracks, Arizona Territory

Susan Gilbreath Lane Family Scrapbook Ca. 1896

In 1893, Captain Erasmus Corwin Gilbreath took an appointment to recruiting service in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After a year of reprieve from the frontier, the Gilbreath family, minus William who was working in Chicago, returned to Arizona when his term in recruiting service expired. While stationed at Whipple Barracks, Gilbreath, his wife Susan, and his two daughters posed for photographs in their home.
