M6 Bayonet

The M6 features a relatively narrow spear-point blade designed for thrusting. To attach the M6, a slot along the rear grip and pommel fits into a lug under the barrel of the M14 rifle. The muzzle ring on the bayonet guard slides over the barrel, providing extra stability without blocking the barrel, thus allowing the rifle to be fired with the bayonet attached. During the years Jon D. Bayer was in Vietnam, this bayonet was issued with the M14 rifle.
