The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration

Begun in 2012, the Commemoration will run until 2025 to recognize the fiftieth anniversary of the Vietnam War. The Commemoration works to provide resources and support for remembrance activities and events. The Pritzker Military Museum & Library is proud to be a commemorative partner, joining thousands of other organizations nationwide in honoring the service of our Vietnam veterans.

Nearly four and a half million people visit the memorial each year, and the VVMF works to ensure that the nation continues to remember the sacrifice of our Vietnam veterans. Through commemoration programs, educational outreach, and online exhibits, the VVMF continues to be a leader in commemorating the war.

The National Veterans Art Museum

The National Veterans Art Museum

Founded in 1981 as the Vietnam Veterans Art Museum, the museum has since broadened its scope to include works by veterans of all wars. Additionally, the museum has partnered with the Harold Washington Library Center and the Pritzker Military Museum & Library to present Above and Beyond, an awe-inspiring exhibit featuring over 58,000 individual dog tags representing the American military personnel killed in Vietnam.

Vietnam Veterans of America

With over 75,000 members and 500 chapters nationwide, the Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) continues to advocate on behalf of Vietnam vets on issues of health care, benefits, and public perception. The VVA has been an active participant in remembrance of the war and will continue to advance the commemoration of the Vietnam War for years to come.

The Vietnam Center and Archive

Based at Texas Tech University, the Vietnam Center and Archive is one of the nation’s leading repositories of information related to the Vietnam War. The Center and Archive has collected millions of pages of documents and tens of thousands of photographs and other materials from the Vietnam War, and is an amazing resource for research.

The Library of Congress's Veterans History Project works to gather and preserve the stories of our nation's servicemen and women. In commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Vietnam War, the Veteran's History Project has gathered a number of oral histories and interviews with Vietnam veterans together for public access.

National Archives

National Archives

The U.S. National Archives and Records Administration oversees a vast quantity of data and resources on the Vietnam War. Military records, presidential museums, and a whole host of additional organizations can be found through the National Archives. 

Illinois Veterans History Project

Illinois Veterans History Project

Illinois Veterans History Project works as a partner of the Library of Congress’s Veterans History Project, striving to preserve and maintain the history of Illinois’s military personnel. Through the Illinois Digital Archive, nearly 6,000 veterans been recorded, and the project is working towards building an oral history collection. The project has gathered over 150 Vietnam oral histories, which are available on YouTube.
