The World War service medal.

Obverse shows Columbia welcoming a returning doughboy with the words "WORLD WAR" inscribed along the top left and right edges. Reverse shows an open wreath of laurel adorned with the names of Belgium, Italy, Siberia, France, Germany, and Russia. At the center of the wreath is inscribed "For service 1917-1919 Presented by the State of New York." Medal is suspended from a straight-bar clasp on a ribbon which is 3.5 cm. wide and is blue with two inset silver stripes.
